WHO WE ARE
Jefferson Riordan and Chris Toppin are owners and operators of WWM Productions, which they established in 2018. They have a combined fifty-plus years of experience in the music business. They are dedicated to building artistic community and producing beautiful, soulful music.
Jefferson started playing drums and guitar at 5 and 10 respectively. His opera-singer mother taught him voice and piano and regretted that he didn’t follow in the classical model. Instead of Maria Callas and Luciano Pavarotti, his singing idols were Lennon & McCartney, David Bowie, and Freddie Mercury. When in high school, he played with friends in blues and jazz bars in Georgetown, D.C. He studied at Peabody Institute in Baltimore, and Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 1990, he founded the band Evelyn Swoons, who released two EPs and were courted by numerous indie labels. From 1998 to 2002, he was a member of The Mouth Almighties, a NYC funk and soul band who played the Village regularly. He has collaborated with Faith Soloway on a musical based on the hit show Transparent. He took a break from the music business in 2004 to raise a family and pursue a PhD. In 2013, he joined with Chris Toppin in forming the band LOVE LOVE, a rock psychedelic-country-soul band with two full-length albums and an EP to its credit. Jefferson has referred to it as his “dream band.”
Chris began singing as a kid, alone in her bedroom into a hairbrush, and also with friends along with their favorite tunes. Early influences were Barbra Streisand to Patsy Cline. She taught herself to play guitar but didn’t get a good opportunity to perform live until she was asked to play bass in The Ex-Girlfriends. After that, Chris played bass in The Myrtles and sang backup for artists such as Bill Janovitz and Tanya Donelly. Then in 1996, she hooked up with Hilken Mancini and started Fuzzy, who signed with Tag, an arm of Atlantic Records. Fuzzy toured the U.S. and England with The Lemonheads and had a number of hit songs on the radio. Like Jefferson, Chris took a break from the music business in the 2000s, starting a family and living full-time in Boston. She teamed up with Jefferson in 2013 to form LOVE LOVE.
